COERR Mae Sariang Supported Youth Club Activities in Refugee Camps

The Refugee Youth Club organized monthly meeting in Ban Mae La Oon and Mae Lama Luang camp to discuss about their capacity and strength in carrying out activities for community and peace.

This year, they have planned to focus on community services and one of these is to gather themselves to visit the poor and vulnerable in their community and give what they lack, e.g. to clean or repair their houses or build toilets for elderly to use.

Their gathering for community services in this year included the visit to the vulnerable elderly and renovate their house by building toilets for elderly to use, every other month, i.e. in Mae La Oon camp on February 20, April 19, June 8, and August 10; in Mae Lama Luang camp on February 20, April 8, June 8 and August 18.

It is good to note that the numbers of youths participating in the gathering for community services were increasing especially in Ban Mae Lama Luang camp. There were 35 home renovation volunteer participants in February, 45 in April, 19 in June and 61 in August; while in Ban Mae La Oon camp there were 24 participants in February, 23 in April, 23 in June and 19 in August.

On August 10, there were 19 youth: 10 female and 9 male volunteering to build toilets for elderly in Ban Mae La Oon and then on August 18, there were 61 youth volunteers: 40 female and 21 male participating in this activity.
